Support the Bay Bridge Pathway Video

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood

The National Bike Summit lobby day on Capitol Hill, March 11, 2010, began with hundreds of advocates crowded into a large hall at the Rayburn House Office Building to hear inspired support from Representative Jim Oberstar (MN), the “father of Transportation Enhancements.”

ACTION ALERT - Regional Bicycle funds at risk

This Action Alert is regarding the proposed 20% reduction of funds allocated to complete the Regional Bicycle Network as discussed in rideOn, February 2010 (p.2). The so-called "flexible" use of block grant funds would strip millions of dollars from the $19.5 million allocated to much-needed bikeway projects and instead use the money for the Local Streets and Roads program. We urge that the original MTC allocations be retained.

Bay Trail Still Faces Roadblocks

"The Bay Trail needs to be treated as a transportation facility," said Robert Raburn of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition. "If it's not going to be treated as a serious transportation facility, then I'm going to have to turn my back on it and say, 'Look, we're going to go after getting bike lanes on the street."

Here is how it works. Drop in at City Hall, 1666 N. Main St, and submit your suggested Goal on a computer programmed to with an electronic tally sheet. The computers are located in the first floor training room and are available during the following times:

Berkeley Bike Station in 2020

High-tech bicycle parking has been available in Japan for over a decade. Recent comments about this video in Drunkcyclist questioned the need for bicycle parking in the US and exhibited distrust at leaving an expensive road bike in the hands of a robot. Our perspective in the East Bay may differ from Flagstaff, AZ.
