Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition (BFBC)
BFBC is the Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition. Our mission is to make Berkeley a more bicycle-friendly city. We want to help make bicycling so safe, convenient, and pleasant that it becomes a preferred way of getting around town.
BFBC´s Long-Term Goals
- Implement the Berkeley Bicycle Plan, particularly the Bicycle Boulevard Network.
- More and better public bicycle parking
- Bicycle awareness events and celebrations.
-
Ongoing bicycle safety education.
Downtown Berkeley BART Bikestation Expansion

The Bikestation has been oversubscribed since its early days,
and we are working with BART and the City to expand and relocate the Bikestation.
See how it might look
in a steet level storefront.
The expanded Downtown Berkeley Bikestation will serve Berkeley residents, downtown Berkeley workers, and help build a successful business district. No other Berkeley transportation project promises to deliver so much to promote bicycling and transit for such a relatively small contribution by Berkeley.
If Berkeley reduces its commitment it risks losing a solid new business that promises to complement existing businesses. They would also lose nearly $500,000 in Safe Routes to Transit funds, and part of the generous annual funding from BART.
You can also send a postcard to Mayor Tom Bates.
Stop by the Bike Station to fill one out, or click here
to print one off and mail it in.
