BFBC Position on Proposed Center Street Changes

2004-03-28

The following resolution was adopted by the BFBC Board of Directors at its meeting 28 March 2004. It is consistent with the recommendations adopted by the Berkeley Transportation Commission at its meeting on 23 March 2004.

In consideration of the following:

The Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition hereby recommends that:

  1. Under any plan adopted for Center St, there should be adequate bicycle access that meets or preferably exceeds applicable minimum standards and is no less than current access.
  2. If Center St is converted to a pedestrian street as has been proposed, the conversion should include a separated bikeway which meets the above-mentioned standards.
